About ME

I have been asked thousands of times, “how did I get into this business?”

My love of cute clothes and a great party dress goes way back to my teens! Sewing was a hobby that let me have fun with ideas,  but it was not what I ever considered to be my career path. I earned my bachelors degree from Michigan State in business and fully intended to conquer the world in New York! But after a couple of years, I realized I wasn’t excited to go to work at all. Sometimes it takes us humans a little struggle to figure things out! Going back to my first love turned into quite the journey!

Starting a business of any kind definitely takes commitment. I knew I had to bring something different to the table, so home fittings and deliveries was the ticket. I was living in Dearborn at that time and my client base was quickly growing out of Somerset Mall. Yup, those days were long... sewing all day and delivering all evening. But it was awesome!!

I met so many great people and was introduced to someone who changed my whole future. Ms. Christiane had studied at FIT in New York, modeled for Givenchy, designed for many designers, and taught pattern drafting at the Chicago Institute of Arts. After she retired, she tutored from her home and I was lucky enough to work with her for 2 years. Not only did I master the pattern drafting which starts every single custom project today, but her contacts in New York are still in my arsenal today.... especially my French laces.

Ironically, my first job at 17 was in a bridal salon! The owner, however, wasn’t the nicest guy and brides weren’t always that happy. I vowed to never work in bridal!! But, that experience of working on gowns that can be very intimidating proved priceless. I got over that fear, but still didn’t see that as my future!

Fast forward 30+ years and it’s really something to look back on. Much to my surprise, I kept gravitating back to bridal... I know! I said I’d never go there!! But I learned I love challenging projects. I work the best under pressure. I am seriously picky. I get excited every time my client steps in front of that mirror. Nothing is more gratifying than to see clients just light up on “the box!”

The universe knows what it’s doing!! I now know that when you really are on the right path, and are willing to be 100% committed, things fall into place. I truly love what I do! The days are long and deadlines are relentless, but the world is just better with a little sparkle drama!
